Roasting Green Coffee Beans

Here we are roasting green coffee beans - Ethiopian beans purchased from Sweet Maria's - employing the hot air process using a Wear-Ever Popcorn Pumper. The process timing is somewhat dependent on the ambient temperature, so on a hot summer day - it's 90F today - the whole thing happens pretty quickly while in the middle of winter the roast may take ten minutes or more. I should also add that it is probably a good idea to wear a glove to protect your hand(s) from the device which gets pretty hot by the end of the roasting cycle. If you are a coffee drinker, and especially if you don't have easy access to good freshly roasted coffee, give it a try. Green coffee beans have a long shelf life, and there is nothing like the wonderful smell and taste of good freshly roasted coffee!!
